Texan transplanted to Florida

Postby Rodcrafter » Sat Jun 22, 2013 3:45 pm

I was born in Odessa, TX, moved to Orlando FL when I was 27. That was 26 years ago, I always made cookers from oil field scrap, but hadn't made one since I've been in FL. I've help others make them but finally made my dream cooker. I love it, it is a reverse flow, with a offset FB and a vertical cabinet, it has an gas warm up burner. It does a great job and I have done a lot of cooking on it over the last year. I keep it at work so I can cook on it while I'm at work. So I can take home dinner and it can be just the way I like it. I read another forum where someone mentioned this site and a guy named Ed. So I checked it out and found it was like a visit back home. You will be hearing from me, I just picked up a couple of briskets at RD on my way home a few minutes ago. I see you guys can teach me a lot and I'm willing to learn and share what ever I have learned as well.

Thanks

Glad to see more folks showing up. Hope to see some of your local spin on things.
Thank You to all the fine folks here for all the tips and advice so I can now smoke a chunk of meat and folks actually eat it.

I like the lazy Susans in the upright. That's a cool idea.

First a warm Welcome
now the pit, fabulous the lazy Susan's are one of the latest inventions I have cooked on, a most convenient accessory for accessing the meat and such, you have some real quality craftsmanship on that pit, like the drain as well, really nice!! :D
