Beat Harold BBQ Cook-off (Old Rusty Rooster - formerly Borski's) Jan !8th and 19th more info on the IBCA calendar.

I'd like to, but I probably won't start my comp season until February. A friend of mine, Krazy tail Kookers, will probably be there. I might have to stop in a have a cool pop though.

I dont think I will ever get texas bbq preferences. What is it with bbq sauce on chicken? I guess I will never know being that I am a transplant and all.

Not really sure myself, but I guess in comps if they are going to allow it an extra layer of flavor never hurt. Won my first 1st place w/ no sauce actually, then went on a dry spell... kept the recipe the same and added a glaze and I walk regularly. I dunno but it works ... :dont:

just fired up the smoker to experiment with bbq sauce :dont:

. I dont know why these competitions dont just have a bbq sauce category? If they dont want to taste the meat, smoke and spices the should just tell people to sauce everything. Oh well, looks like I may wind up going back to KCBS cook-offs just to even the field and know you will be being judged by someone who has at least gone to some type of training to be a judge.
