Turkey Necks

Postby David S » Sat Dec 22, 2012 10:38 am

Put a pile of turkey necks on the pit yesterday.
Grilled them over direct heat on each side to put a little color on them.
It smelled good!

Braised them in foil for an hour then glazed with SBR. Made a little gravy with the drippings this time :D
Served it up with a little rice. Tasty!

Looks delicious there David.
I don't care much for the neck, but I sure like deep fried turkey nutz.

I think the neck is some of the tastiest meat on the bird. Little fussy to pick at but worth the work. Looks great !

Thanks fellas!

Jarhead..."deep fried turkey nutz" I am terrified to figure out if that is what it really sounds like!

CF..The back is my Dad's favorite on chicke; never found turkey backs for sale but I would love to try some.

HB...I work with a wise lady over here. One of things she has taught me is, "Don't eat turkey necks around strangers. You just have to get your mouth in there and suck."

I would only imagine he's talking about gizzards. i would totally agree there.. Love me some fried turkey gizzard.
Those necks look fantastic, and I agree; a bit of work, but worth it in the end!

Nope, I ain't talkin' about the gizzard. :laughing7:
It is exactly as it sounds. They are located under the left wing, not where you would think they would be.

I am SO glad mine are not located under my armpit

Very interesting information though.. I still have yet to tackle mountain oysters, let alone turkey.
