Our results for the Brazoria County Fair

Postby jtilk » Sun Oct 21, 2012 10:22 pm

We finally wrapped up our county fair cookoff this wkend and as usual it was a full house... The grounds were packed out with another 142 teams. I must say I walked away fairly content with the results, no top 3 finishes in any categories but we did get top ten in all 3 majors.

8th place chicken
7th place ribs
10th brisket

:D

Congrats to all those who got calls from the forum.

To place at all with that many teams is a good showing. Top 10 in all three, super. Congratulations. CF :D

Great Cook Off. We have been doing the BCFA cook off for about 6 years and always have a great time. What team do you cook with?

JS-TX, I'm not quite sure. It took them a bit to posts the overall results and I didnt wait around. Once they are up on the site I'll let you know.

Congrats to you josh. My family has been doing this one over 15 years and every year we have a blast. This year we tried out some new people on the team and they all learned a lot but we did get 15th on the friday night feast not a calling but our new guys were proud. Also i have to admit that the weather was awesome.

You are correct jh3 the weather was perfect. Although I am still trying to recuperate from things other than weather. I don't know if any of you guys heard that someone with the BCFA was toying with the idea of moving the cook off to a weekend other than during the fair. This bad idea has not went infront of the Board of Directors yet. Everybody needs to light up the BCFA facebook and let them know what you think. I personally think it will kill the cook off. If enough people voice their opinion they will leave it alone.

No doubt on the weather. It usually seems to rain quite a bit during our fair, but thankfully we only had one day of that and it was Wed if I recall right so it didnt effect the cookoff. Not to mention in years past it's been uncomfortably hot.

15th on Friday night feast isn't bad at all...out of 142 teams thats nearly the top 10% in that category.
