Round Rock Cookoff

How many of ya'll are planning on attending the Round Rock Cookoff this weekend? I heard they were expecting close to a 100 teams this year.

I went last year and decided against it this year.

I doubt you will see 100 with the tiny payouts and possible bad weather. I will be there just because I live a mile from the dell diamond. Imagine taking first in brisket at a comp with 100+ teams and only getting 250.00. That would be painful.

I wish I could say I was in it for the $$$ but I'm not. Otherwise I would have stopped doing it along time ago. I totally understand though.

My first post. I plan to cook it. I arrived late last year and got to park out on the fringe overflow area. Any one have problems with parking if you get there early?

Did it last , no money...won't do it again....3 rd ribs outa 90 teams and got $100....I don't think so.....

I'll be there. Maybe one of the few I get to make due to
t-ball practice/games and soccer practice/games, kid stuff
this weekend, etc...

I've done it and it suxx... lol Well not brisket, but I did take first with chicken out of 152 teams and got $250... :dont:

It was about 85 teams, billy overton won and had a first place brisket

That was my first time trying competition BBQ and man did I pick the worst weather to do it in. Came out with a 4th place beans and 7th place brisket and got my first 2 little paper certificates. Aside from the weather the only thing I didnt care for was being surrounded by people playing really loud music till 2am, so I slept from 2-3am when I started my pit.
