Help with rub for brisket.

Postby smokedaddy3 » Thu Dec 23, 2010 1:23 pm

I am going to do a brisket for christmas dinner this year. I plan on putting the rub on tommorrow morning and letting it sit till that night. Here is the question though. I have tried a few of the store bought rubs and they arnt that great. I have found that I really enjoy the fiesta brand rib rub.. I know it is not the best out there but it does good on ribs. Could I use this rub on a brisket or should I get a good quality rub. Any help would be great. :?:

Ever try any of the SuckleBusters rubs? Hoochie Mama is great on brisket IMO.

Check sucklebusters.com and you should be able to find out. Or you can email Gator, the head honcho here on the site. He is SuckleBusters :) Really great stuff!

Hey Smokedaddy, I like the fiesta rib rub but I have never used it on a brisket. I like using Sucklebuster Hogwaller or HoochieMamma on my briskets or I'll make some up. I am going to cook a brisket for Christmas as well. I will also be prepping Fri. morning.
Good luck and Merry Christmas.
Here is a nice rub recipe I have used.
Good for 10 to 12 lb.
4 Tbsp black pepper
2 Tbsp kosher salt or sea salt
2 Tbsp chili powder
2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp onion powder
2 tsp dried parsley
2 tsp oregano
2 tsp sugar
PS. Sucklebusters is the main sponsor for our forumn and Gator makes some of the best spices and sauces around.
How bout some more beans Mr.Taggert? I'd say you've had enough!

limey where around burleson or the fort worth area can you get his product. Like I said I have heard nothing but great things about it and the only place I have ever seen it was at the mall on the san antonio river walk in a texas store.

I have only bought on line but I think I saw around here that Central Market was going to carry his products starting next March.
I have some Hogwaller if ya want to try it out.
PM me if ya need some,
Chuck

well Its right about one in the morning and I have already started my fire just waiting on it to reach temp. The brisket is on the counter coming to temp alittle. Going to be a great night. Santa has already been here for my two little girls so they must have been good this year. I will post pictures alittle later when I am alittle more awake and intune with life. Not a coffe drinker but it might call my name before to long. Hope everyone has a verry merry christmas.

Great to hear about your Santa sighting. The wife went back east to see her sis and I'm all alone with the dog this year again. No Santa  . But, I'm on deck to smoke the ham and a tri-tip for the dinner at my mother's :D . Then I'm off to bird hunt for a few days over in AZ. :D :D

I've used Sucklebusters as well as John Henry's Texas Brisket Rub on briskets. I think they would come out great with just salt and pepper too.
