Hello from Boston, MA. Found your site through a google search, was impressed with the amount of info sharing on the posts. Fairly new to BBQ, and just started researching which charcoal smoker to buy for a beginner.

Glad you found us, welcome. When it comes to starring out in this (Hobby) addiction, the choice of equipment can be overwhelming. The 3 most important factors to consider. 1) your budget. 2) Size of pit:how many folks do you plan to cooking for. 3) How involved do you want to be in the process.

Welcome KFC glad ya found us. What happens is you buy your first pit and then you turn out one really good batch of Q then the pit ain't big enough any more.
Our typical recommendation is to make a UDS, they are cheap, work good, have reasonable capacity and are easy enough to build. Last June we had a get together and built one for ox190 in a couple hours.

Welcome to the forum, lot of good help here. The UDS might be a good start. I have seen lots of good "Q" come from some strange looking devices.CF :D

Welcome....no matter what you start with, you will be upgrading in no time. UDS (Ugly Drum Smoker) is a good choice. You can either build one yourself (if you have the equipment) or pick up one pretty cheap just about anywhere. Once you become.....shall I say.....addicted, like the rest of us you may end up collecting several different styles (gas, domed, egg, keg, off-set etc), each with its own unique features. Every single one of us has our own preferences, the important thing is not just your destination but more importantly the trip there......you will truly enjoy it.

Welcome! As stated, the budget is a big decision maker in pit choices. Good bbq can come from many different units. Some just require more attention than others.

Summerset TRL 32" Built-In Grill
Weber Q2200

Welcome from Austin. You'll find great info here and all the encouragement you could ask for. The hubs is from Boston -- actually North Adams, but Texans barely know where Boston is.
