Railhead in Colleyville???

Postby Tom_Boy » Thu Apr 12, 2007 5:03 pm

Anyone know what happened to The Railhead in Colleyville? Just shut down, don't know why. Was pretty good.. Fellow who started the original in Ft. Worth off Montgomery was a cook at Angelo's for years. While not as good as Angelo's, it was by far the best around the Southlake/Colleyville/Grapevine area.

Thanks,
Tom

Well think you could get in a debate right quick on the food quality of the place. I never was impressed with it to any extent whatever..course I aint never found anyplace which I thought was worth a flip so I could well be prejudiced. Rumor was business was not as good as they needed it to be and it sitting on some mighty high priced real estate.

Welcome aboard, Tom_Boy!

Wish I knew! Personally, I prefered it to Angelo's, but I don't know why. I rarely saw a lot of vehicles in there, probably because the location made it tough to get to from 121. I bet it was lack of eaters plus taxes on the land. That, or they got a great offer for the land and decided to sell out.

I know the Railhead on Montgomery & I-30 is going strong. I pass by fairly often, but still haven't stopped to try it.

And FWIW, I have eaten at Angelo's once, and didn't care much for it. If I remember right, it was too greasy for my taste.

Cowboys Barbeque & Rib Co., (Colleyville, tx.)

Postby Cowboys BBQ » Sun Dec 14, 2008 9:02 pm

I'm the new owner of the "former" Railhead BBQ joint in Colleyville. To answer your question, the reason it closed was two fold from what I heard:

1.) The franchisor of Railhead Mr. Gerren, (I think that's how his name is spelled) had yanked the franchise license from this locations owner.

2) The owner of the Colleyville location then passed away a short time later.

I hope you'll take the time to drop by and give us a chance to serve you with great Barbeque. We plan on opening Feb 1, 2009. While our website has yet to be updated to feature the restaurant, I believe you'll be able to find enough information about our awards and the roads we have travelled proving we can deliver a superior product.
