Gator Chili II

Postby nascarchuck » Sun Oct 26, 2008 4:06 pm

Well, along with Rich, I am also testing my newest product from Sucklebusters. Actually I am making 2 seperate batches of chili.

The first batch is made according to the instructions on the chili seasoning package and cooked in the crockpot.

The second batch has 2 lbs hamburger meat, 2 cans stewed tomatoes, 1 can pinto and 1 can kidney beans along with 2 chopped jalapenos.

Pics and progress reports as the happen.

Batch #1:

Ready for the crockpot.

1.5 hours left to go. Man, it sure looks and smells good! I cant wait to try it!

Batch #2:
No pics yet. Just put it on the stove.

I was cooking the chili on low in the crockpot. With about 30 minutes to go, I couldn't stand it and had to taste it.

Maybe I should have been cooking it on high because the veggies aren't close to being done. I will cook it on high for a couple of hours and see what happens.

I sure like the spices though.

Yes cook it on high.

I have the type of crock pot where the ceramic part comes out of the heater part...(not sure that makes sense to anyone but me)...anyway, when I want to speed up the cooking - I stick the ceramic crock pot into the microwave on high for about 10 minutes. It gets the chili really hot, really fast. Then I just return it to the base and continue cooking.

Yall are making me hungry!

I hear ya Chuck! I really didn't know where to set mine.
I browned the chili meat and sausage in a pan before they went into the crock. Threw the veggies in with the meat to soften up.
Put all of the ingredients in the crock, on high for 1.5 hrs. Turned to medium for the remainder of the cook. Total 4hrs. Hang in there it will be good. BTW had to watch the crock to keep prying hands out of there. Gremlins kept wanting to sneak a bite.   . Can't turn my back on that woman!

OK... Well my 2nd batch (my recipe, Gators seasoning) got done before the 1st batch (Gators recipe) and I filled up on batch #2. I ate so much that now I have a belly ache and I dont even want to talk about food!

Batch #1 looks really good since I cooked it on high, but am too full to even try it. I will heat a bowl up tomorrow for lunch and try it then.

The seasoning was real good in batch #2!!!

Batch #1 before putting it in the fridge.
