Cold Smoker

Postby hspallek » Sat Oct 18, 2008 6:15 am

I have built a cold smoker from an old commercial fridge. Any suggestions for improvements are welcome.

Take a look: http://www.spallek.com/smoker/

I will mainly smoke liverwurst, deer ham, beef tongue, cheese, steelhead trout, etc.

What kind of temps do you usually see in there? Bet it stays low with just a hotplate in that much space.

I remember as a young boy that my uncle had a similar set up. He had the hotplate inside the fridge and only used saw dust, it was vented through the back of the garage. That thing would hold dozens of suckers and tulibees.
