I really need a good home made chilli recipie.

We've use Wick Fowlers for years. I'm partial to his because that's what mother uses. If there's a better home made recipie I want to hear it.

Bring it on! :D

HOF,

At the risk of offending the REAL chile gods, this is a simple recipe with a good flavor. This aint competition style by a long shot:

Brown 1 LB Beef Chile Meat + 1 LB Pork (sausage will work too). Drain.

In a crock pot, add:
Beef and Pork cooked above.
1 Can of tomato soup + 1 can either tomato soup or beef stock.
2 Cans of Pinto Beans (the juice ONLY - reserve Beans).
2 Cans of Kidney Beans (the juice ONLY - reserve Beans).
1 Each; Onion, Red Bell Pepepr, Green Bell Pepper and Yellow Bell Pepper.
6 Tablespoons Chili Powder, I like New Mexico Light from Pendrys.
1 - 2 Tablespoons Lousianna Hot Sauce.
Salt/Pepper to taste.

Cook for 3 - 4 hours, the longer the better.

For bean eaters, you can use the beans reserved above and add to individual bowls.

No offense taken ~ I was laughing when I typed that. I prefer beans only because that was the way I was raised. I've tried a couple recipes without and they're very good. 8)

Our family recipe (Wick Fowler) is a no bean zone.

Man, if you get the wife started on those things life ain't worth livin' anymore. :D

Don't get me wrong, if you need paint stripped, turning my wife on to some beans isn't a bad idea, the men folk just need to plan a hunting trip or something while nature takes it's course. :D

I use wick Fowlers as well. Makes decent chili. Often times I use deer or goat for the meat. Makes wonderful chili.

Thanks for the recipe Gator I will have to try that.

I've used Wick's recipe for years too, only I add a little more to it, I use 3#'s chili grind meat & 2 #'s of ground meat(deer,or??), a can of diced Rotel's, a can of diced tomatoes, green onions chopped, a tablespoon of minced garlic added to what comes in the chili kit. Brown the meat in a large iron skillet while the rest of the ingredients are in a large pot "blending" together , add the meat to the rest in the pot, add neccessary water & cook until ready.
