I bought some pecan wood and slit some into chunks. Does this stuff look like its ready to use? The color on the top pic looks more accurate.

Hard to tell from a pic. :D Take and tap it on the concrete driveway, it should sound like you tapped a baseball bat. :D A real dull thud sound wouldn't be dry. Should have that ping sound for dry wood. :D If it doesn't seem dry enough, set it on top of the firebox for awhile before you put it on the fire. That will dry it out. :D :D

OSD is right on... I've been telling folks for years that one way to tell if the wood is seasoned is to whack two sticks together and if they sound like baseball bats clanking, then your good to go!
