And so it begins... New ODK

Postby 02ebz06 » Sat Apr 18, 2020 11:28 am

Moved back in June last year and left my Outdoor Kitchen behind. :'(

So now to start a new one at this house...
The outdoor kitchen will be stucco with granite top, have a Memphis Elite built-in pellet grill, an FGM 800B pizza oven, and a freestanding CampChef vertical smoker, and a CampChef griddle.
One nice thing, all the granite that will be used was in the indoor kitchen when that was remodeled.
So don't have to buy any.

Eventually will be covered.
Will post more as I progress.

Not sure why picture posted sideways, but if you click on it, it rotates 90.

Look forward to the pics. I have one, no wood in it at all. Metal frame, hardy board and brick and tile. Some of the best money I have ever spent. I use it all the time, and have for years.

The one I built at last house was made with 18ga steel, no wood.
It took a big toll on my wrists, all the vibration from cutting and screwing the things together.
I bought a nail gun for this go around. Much easier.
It will have the Hardi-backer cement board, then I turn it over to the people that know how to stucco.

I bought the heat shield accessory kit for the Memphis Elite built-in.
With it installed, only need 1/8" clearance to combustibles.
I will still put the Hardi-backer around it for piece of mind.

Yes, take all of the precautions that you can. And make sure it is ventilated properly. I have louver openings at each end on mine. Looks like you are not going to have a sink and running water?

When I had mine built I originaly looked at the stucco models. But decided to go with brick and tile. Lots of humidity here in Houston. So now I am glad I did, no issues with things turning green.

No sink or water.
Didn't have easy way to get water there and get rid of waste, and having to deal with the fact we do get below 32 on occasion.
Venting is not an issue, there is nothing behind it.
I opted to leave back of cabinet open in the event I ever need to replace something.
Back panel comes off for access to everything.
Trying to slide it forward and then work down behind it didn't seem like something I wanted to do.

Got the footers in for roof and mesh on sides.
Should get brown coat on Monday, and finish stucco coat later in the week.
