Thanks, Gents, that Swiss Chard was in the Organic Dept and a little pricey but too beautiful to pass up so I bought it and ate it all today plus both Filets and that small white loaded tater.

Ain't it funny how Organic has half the ingredients but double the cost ??

Swiss chard! :salut: :salut:

One of our plants actually came back from last year. It's golden rather than red.

Looks like a wonderful lunch! :chef:

We're hoping our one "returning" swiss chard plant does well his year.

When you harvest Swiss Chard do you just remove the leaves that are larger like Collards or do you harvest the entire plant :?:

We just cut off most of the larger leaves and let the plant grow more. It works best when you have several plants and only harvest from a few at a time.

We call it silver beet emm. You put stalk in your hand thick end first and pull it through, it stripe the leaves off the stalk. I don't cook the stalks. We do have a red type as well like yours. Wife grows it in the garden. I use it in my curries.

I gotcha, Prof and Pard - - - I ran across a recipe where the Lady cut the stalks into longer pieces and then roasted them in the Oven with Seasonings and Parmegan (sp) Cheese. Looked almost good enuff to eat. :dont:

Airlift us the stalks! We love them!

Trader Joe used to offer pre-washed, pre-chopped chard. I loved it. Now all you see is kale.
