Greg, you asked the right man, but your timing was a bit off. I just came back from a running trip with my wife and our kids. When I read your question I instantly felt the craving!

We have two large chocolate producers, Freia and Nidar. Freia is the biggest but technically not Norwegian anymore. It was bought by mondelez some years ago. They still make the chocolate from the old Norwegian recipes though.

I would definitely by a box of chocolate hearts. That's pure milk chocolate. See the first picture.

You should also by a bag of twist. Small chunks of different tastes. Pretty good.

My favorites are big chocolate bars. Go for the three variations below. Melkesjokolade, Daim and firkløver (At home keep them in the fridge, they are best cold).

Nidar stratos is also great.

At last I would by a few of the smaller bars. Troika is my favourite among the smaller.

You can also buy a few of the kvikk lunsj. That's Norwegian heritage. Every Norwegian bring a couple of these when we are out in the nature. When we tak a break we bring up this chocolate.

It is soon Easter and you can find chocolate and marzipan combo in the stores now. They are also great.ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

They have all of it except for the Stratos, Troika and Kvikk lunsj.

You can even order in advance and pick up at the tax free shop in the international terminal at the airport.

See this link:

It might be cheaper if you find a Rema or Kiwi grocery store in Stavanger.

I think there is a Rema close to me, i will have a look there first. Thanks for the info. Nice chocolates always are a big hit. When i was traveling through Amsterdam on my way in and out of west Africa i used to pick up some nice stuff there.

That true.

I was thinking of another thing. Have you had time to taste the wiener sausages or baconcheese hotdogs we have?

If you pass by a gas station or a kiosk I recommend you stop and try these:

Go for a wiener in "lompe" and a baconcheese dog in a bun with shrimp salad on top. Ask for a "lompe" on top of that to cover the shrimp salad. It's different than the dogs you eat at home, but very good.

I have not had any of these that you mention. But they do have some nice sausages on the breakfast buffet in the mornings here at the hotel. And wonderful fresh breads, and sliced meats and cheeses as well. Although the scrambled eggs are real runny, i guess that is how they do it in Norway when it comes to
Scrambled eggs.

Scrambled eggs shouldn't be runny. Not common. Fried eggs should. salmonella is extremely rare, so you can eat raw eggs if you like.

The breakfast sausages are different. If you have time I recommend you try the ones I recommended.

We eat a lot of bread so yes, many great varieties.

You guys are making me hungry for rich dark chocolate and a snifter of good bourbon to go with it.

Wow. You got it all right. That should last a week.

Remember, if some of these become a favorite I can send you some more later.

Two more things:

That stratos must be eaten cold imo.

Bring those kvikk lunsj out on tour and bring a thermo can with hot chocolate and some oranges. Then you're enjoying some Norwegian culture.
