Found a pretty good looking Boston butt at wally world yesterday and figured what the heck. I made my own rub from salt pepper cavenders garlic salt cayenne and some brown sugar. Its going on in a few more min.

Looks like the Boston Butts are the meat of the month lately. I'll be scoring a couple at HEB if I can get over there today. :tup: :cheers:

Its been on since 5 this morning. Im using hard wood lump and no wood. I want to see if the lump leaves any kind of flavor. Is still on the fence on wethet to wrap in foil or not.

You should have pretty good flavor depending on your lump.
The stuffed chicken I just did was lump only and the wife says to me, wow that's hot a pretty good Smokey flavor.

Not using wood has made the butt take a very light color. I wonder if there will beans flavor?
