Re: Love August and my garden
Never had them like this up here in the Northeast.
I'd be willing to try them for sure. Only figs i've had were Newtons which I'd eat the entire box :).....
Wait, that's not entirely true. I remember as a kid around Thanksgiving eating the ones in a circle tied with a rope and they were pretty good.

Re: Love August and my garden
The end of the figs are near but there’s hope. The Italian plums are about 2 weeks out. My round two of raspberries are near completion too.

Raspberry jam or as you guys call it jelly. Boil equal parts raspberry and sugar. Stir when boiling for 15 to 20 mins. Then pour into sterilised jars. Simple as. Or do the same but run it through a sieve to take most of the wee pips out. Bottle into sterilised bottles to give you coulis or sauce for your ice cream. I make it every season.

Jam is made with the whole fruit, jelly is mainly from the fruit juices :)Russ wrote:Raspberry jam or as you guys call it jelly. Boil equal parts raspberry and sugar. I'm just the opposite, Pardnah, I really prefer Jelly except for Peach Preserves/Jam

OUP
You have caused me to want peach pie right now!! Asked my daughters how they would want it. I said super cold vanilla ice cream with a crumble crusted top. Each one of them was completely different. Strange none wanted it like me.
