Easy cheap Black Stone drip tray fix

Postby woodenvisions » Wed Oct 04, 2017 6:00 pm

Ok, I know there are a few of us on here that have Black Stone Griddles.
I also know that it has one small, but annoying flaw in the drip tray design.
I've seen some Actually modify the channel with a torch and grinder.
I've also seen the ( paper clip ) trick which I've used for a while and it works pretty well lol.

So, we have 6 Black Stone users in my immediate family, and all now have the same fix.
My brother gave me this copper flanged insert he got at the hardware store for 18 ¢..
All we did was chamfer the end of the insert with a grinder/sander and run a multi step unibit thru the hole from the top down, and then from the bottom up to clean any burrs from production. Then we just banged it into the hole till it formed into the channel.
The insert is slightly smaller than 1/2 inch, but don't set that in stone. I'm sure some channels make be slightly smaller or larger.
Be careful to not widen the hole too much.
Anyways, I wanted to share pics.
It works PERFECTLY !ImageImageImageImageImage

That’s pretty slick. I ordered this at the same time I got my stainless cover. It works well also.

It didn't take long for someone to take advantage of a poor design and capitalize on it did it...lol.
Pretty cool fix , I like it !
I'm betting Black Stone will have a new style drip channel in thier ( newer ) production I would hope..

I'm still amazed that they let this unit go out the door like this considering the rest of the unit is flawless.

Ok, all of this Black stone talk is gonna make me go use it now :):)
