Deer Beer Stew

Postby jwh » Sat Sep 23, 2017 7:58 pm

I smoked a pan of jalepeno-bacon cornbread, so I needed somethin' with which to mix it. I figgered I'd make Deer Beer Stew, then.

First, ya wanna chop up some Onyones & jalapenos, then sautee that & carrots in some bacon fat & butter.

Next, you'll put all that with some chopped tators into your crock pot.

Brown yer meat. I have deer steak and ground beef/pork here.

Finally, add yer meat, along with some beer, and beef stock in to your crock pot. Let her cook (I let her go all night on low).

It never hurts to smoke or bake some cornbread.

Josh,
I come from a family of 9 and ALOT of hunters and I've had Venison so many different ways. So many people are missing out on eating Venison this way right here. I love using the slow cooker for cuts of meat like this. The way you sauteed everything first and then in the overnight sauna produces such a great flavor.
Thanks for posting this, it looks great and from what I remember it tastes Awesome !

Enjoy man, nice job !

BTW,
Have you ever had Venison Parmesan from the Backstraps ?

I hear ya. Don't get me wrong, I love chicken-fried deer steak with mashed tators and gravy, but I also very much using the steak as chunks of meat for stew and/or chili. Also, I love my new found culinary world of smoking, but the slow cooker does some amazing flavor-melding of its own.
