Never would I'd Ever

Postby OldUsedParts » Thu Sep 21, 2017 9:08 am

Never thought that I'd be happier with a Walmart Brand Meat of "any" kind over HEB, BUT, I have definitely tested, tasted and changed from HEB Original Bacon to Great Value (walmart) Original Bacon. I must admit that this came by accident when I ran out one weekend and was forced to pick up some at Walmart. Next thing I know is the Wife is ranting and raving about how good the bacon is compared to what I'd been buying. Now, I gave them several good comparisons using the Wiffy's taste buds since she is more of a bacon "eater" and I am more of a bacon "user". Hands Down we'll be buying Walmart Brand from now on as long as it keeps on keeping on.

We're Wright Brand people over here if it's a stand alone item.

If I'm using it for wrapping (poppers, moinks, etc), I like a thinner bacon and usually go with:

Thats good news. My wife shops at Walmart, but I refuse to go in one. Hypocritical, I know since it comes into the same household, but I detest their business plan and what all the big box superstores have done to the mom and pop institutions that this country is founded on. As a small business owner, places like Walmart just grate on me. Ill pay a little extra and support the little guy when I can. Sorry, I'll climb off my soapbox now. :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse:

I kinda agree with several on this

Homemade is best
Wright is really good store bought
Black Label if I am wrapping (peppers etc) because it’s thin.

Wal Mart will always be at the bottom of my list because it requires me walking into a Wal Mart to buy it.

I was thinking the same thing, but have been kind of rough on him lately so I didn't say anything. However, now that you mentioned it......

Eh. We tried WM bacon on some Moink balls and poppers. It was surprisingly good.

My bacon complaint is how difficult it is to find thin bacon that cooks up crispy.

With crispy fall weather coming on, it's time to start doing the DIY bacon thing again.

WE SHOULD HAVE A BACON THROWDOWN.
BE WELL, BUT NOT DONE
Hank: "Do you know how to jumpstart a man's heart with a downed power line?"
Bobby: "No."
Hank: "Well, there's really no wrong way to do it."

Just for grins, what was the price and weight. We buy ours at Winco with a variety of brands usually 3.49 a 12 0z pkg.
