Cravings

Postby bsooner75 » Sun Sep 17, 2017 7:05 pm

I've had a craving for some smoked turkey breast and the youngest had been asking for some smoked Bologna.

First time I've deboned and smoked a turkey breast and it came out pretty good. Could've pulled it a little earlier but it was soaking in butter so all was good. Salt and heavy pepper rub.

Used Meat Church Holy Gospel run and Sucklebusters Honey sauce on the Bologna.ImageImageImageImageImage

Both of those looked great, I could put both on the same sandwich. :chef: :chef:

Russ, no bologna? Really?? How is that possible? What does your countries meat packing plants do with the excess flies, rat droppings etc

Made some enquiries at giggle results, nothing for my city, I think the last bits are made into what we call luncheon, it's a cheap product that looks like your Bologna, but is chicken flavoured or veges added and called savoury luncheon, we had it as kids in sammiches as we never had much money. I still buy it now, squirt of tomato sauce between 2 slices, yummy. Pic to follow.

Kinda looks like Bologna with green stuff in it…almost like olive loaf.

If you ask what's in it and when they tell you wish you hadn't asked…it's like Bologna :) Oh, and we pronounce it Buh-low-knee

Lol, would never ask what's in it? I love your pronunciation btw, lol. I buy this stuff a couple of times a week, quick snack if I'm passing the fridge. It's better than it looks.

I'll eat it ?IF? it's fried brown in the skillet but that's about all :whiteflag:

Yup, that looks just like olive loaf...which we eat once every five years. Smoked bologna...might be something to try.

I LOVE fried bologna. Growing up I'd eat that for lunch w/ my Meemaw. Sometimes w/ mustard & other times w/ Miracle Whip…depends on my mood that day

Well I learned something new about Bologna, Andrew Zimmern had some on his show a few weeks ago.
