Re: How'd y'all cook this guy ??
Nope,......you both wrong.
No Gophers in these parts.
It's a Mole. Giggle it .:lol
Raise holy heck in the lawn this time of the year....note their devastation in the back ground to my lawn.
This little bugger had a run going at least 50 feet long out into the yard. They like to dig there tunnels just below the sod looking for grubs and worms.
Really bad this time of year cause all the pastures around our place are dryed out cause of the lack of rain and hot weather and are not irragated. I water my lawn 3 or 4 days a week so quess where they head too.
Got a couple more on the other side of the house I got to get yet.
Speaking of Gophers. I got fond memories of Gopher hunting with my 3 brothers back in the early 60s in North Dakota.
Dad and Mom would take us kids back to the Dakotas every summer for about three weeks to visit our Grand Parents.
My dad would load all 4 of us boys in a bed of a pickup...all of us armed with 22s ...Gopher hunting. Great part was back then in ND they had a bounty on Gophers. I believe it was 2 cents a tail. Us boys would collect a coffee can full of tails and take them to the the collection point which was actually a Coast To Coast store.
We'd turn in the tails in exchange for more 22 shells .
Life was much simpler then

Bill[/quote]We used to live in an old 1800's farmhouse back in 2000.
We had these annoying varmits all over the yard. I remember one time hitting a hole while on the riding mower. I had the steering wheel in my left hand, and in my drinking hand I had ...well...a drink
I hit that hole ( crater ) in about 5th gear, took the wheel right out of my hand, how I didn't get launched off I will never know.
I did however smash my knee and after I realized what happened, it was wartime against any and all varmits that dug anything near the house.
My landlord at the time was a 4th generation dairy Farmer. He would tell me stories how these holes are responsible for major suspension damage to his tractors !
Also told me about how he would lose a cow here and there because they would break thier legs...
He and his son kept Remington in biz lol.
I'm glad u got the little &$_#@+d !!

I stand corrected, Wild Bill, man am I showing my age - - - - I knew it was a Mole because I used to have several spring loaded stick'em traps that I would spread along those little turf trashers underground subway tunnels - - - - - Oh Well, it'll probably just get worse but hopefully I won't even know it
