Labor Day Throwdown Poll

Postby TX1911 » Fri Jul 14, 2017 9:44 am

Alright ladies and gents. I'm aiming for a Labor Day Throwdown for our next event. Looking to do a different format on this one. Please vote on your favorite. My goal is to start opening for entries on August 1, at the latest. Make sure everyone has enough time to plan and cook. Please choose one food and one cooking method. Post your questions in this thread, or suggestions for rule changes, so they can be considered.

I'm gonna open this up with this suggestion.

Surf & Turf over Charcoal.

I'm on Tapatalk, so please forgive me if there are things listed to vote on.
I can't see any ?

Before I vote I'd like to make a suggestion that Seafood be defined as "Anything that lives in water" - - - if accepted then there could possibly be a ?need? for a description or labeling of "some items" on the entry photo :dont:  I.E. octopus, gator, grilled fishy/crabbie patties or ETC :?:

By the way, my thought on this was to do something different than what we've recently done. That's why pork isn't listed, and neither is beef. I intentionally omitted turkey in the likelihood of a Thanksgiving Throwdown.

If yall want those options, let me know.

What's the consensus on a 2 course Throwdown ?

How about Seafood & Desert, over Charcoal/wood ?
Can't beat a good desert after seafood ?

Got my vote in. I think it's a good idea to try something new. Not to mention with traditional BBQ we've got football season coming up so I'm sure there will be plenty of opportunity for straight BBQ TD's.

Thanks as always for keeping this place fun.

only my "Onion" but, even tho I don't cook with gas, there's a lot of members here that do and they create some great Plates as witnessed here many times - - - so to eliminate "their technique" would be decreasing the potential field of entries I. M. H. Onion :dont:

True. Was just trying to add in other options for the poll. I'll remove only charcoal/wood

 I admit that it is becoming some what "non-purist" for a BBQ Forum but for just an occasional T.D. - - I like it

Loving all the input... Will take a wait and see approach to everyone's input... BUT.... Will toss out the idea for a griddle/pan throwdown in the future. :chef: :texas:
