Hello All,

I am new to the Texas BBQ Forum, and wanted to say hi. I just got a smoker over the 4th of July weekend, and did up my first ever brisket. It was great. I look forward to learning more about smoking.

It was my first brisket, well, my first smoking of any food really. I purchased a used pit off of Nextdoor, and was excited to use it. Brisket was a 13.23 pounder from HEB. I lit my fire at 7pm, put the brisket on at 8pm, and stayed awake most of the night. I didnt take it off until 10am the next day (14 hours). I then let it rest a couple hours. Turned out pretty good. Rub was 1 cup salt, 1 cup pepper, 1/2 cup cumin, 1/2 brown sugar.
