I want to insulate a thin wall smoker, any suggestions as to what material/how to proceed?
It's the upright I use as my Avatar, and is not a terrible under $200 piece but it is thin, thin, thin...

You can have an insulating company build one for you like I did.
The one on my firebox mounted is right at 200.00 it is a thermal reactor blanket rated at 2700° 1" thick.

That looks great! But way too good for my cooker..costs more than I paid for the whole rig!
I need to think up a MacGiver method..

Wrap the top and sides hen build a cover for the insulation out of some sort of exterior siding material.

That looks great but it does make me start to itch..I wonder if it stays together when handled and cut than attic insulation used to?
Never going to handle that type again (at least without a bunny suit)..

Re: Heat wrap/blanket material?
I have used a welders blanket over the cooker portion but I don't think it would be good on the firebox.
During cold weather I fold the welders blanket and put a "space blanket in the middle. Space blanket is one of those mirror reflective Mylar sheets.
