How ya cooking that steak?

Postby WestCoastSmoke » Mon Jan 02, 2017 8:37 pm

I love throwing a slab of meat on the grill...salt/pepper, hot, fast and medium rare.
But I went over to a buddy on mines house and he used a cast iron skillet... :dont:
And darn it good...
I'm not changing...just thinking out loud.
How about you?

I do both. Typically cast iron and oven for tenderloin or if it's raining. Otherwise it's a reverse sear on the grill.

I also have just learned how to reverse sear and it's my go to for Steak from now on

Nothing wrong with a white hot cast iron 2 minutes each side on Grapeseed oil, then finished in the oven.

I heat up equal virgin oil, butter, sear steak hot on cast iron pan. The only way. Mine puts the sear marks on as well. I'm on my hols ATM and this place is owned by a chef, but his equipment is crapola.
