Hi, newcomer from Washington state, prior to that from Colorado. Learning to bbq and smoke. 77 years old and still going strong!!

Welcome, DickC, and Howdy :texas: you got me bested by 2 years but it ain't the miles, it's the vehicle your in that counts :tup: I think you'll find the members here to be as knowledgeable and helpful as any on the WWW. What part of Colorado were you from?

I lived in Conifer, west of Denver up in the mountains. Had 2 gun shops, am now a retired gunsmith....have been making handmade knives since 1972 also, have to keep busy so now enjoying smoking in my Char-broil smoker! :D

Nice to see someone else here from the evergreen state :D
Where's about you located ?
I be on the "left" side of the Cascades about as far North and West as you can go . Any farther North or West and I'd be a Canuck

I'm in Colville, northeast conservative side of the state! I'm glad to see someone is from the NW, feel kinda lonely without chile cook-offs and bbq contests!

Looks like you're settling in just fine DickC - - - I spent 5 wonderful years at 10,000' in Summit County Colorado - - - but at 75, I'm glad I'm not there now :laughing7: :D :lol: You also mentioned handmade knives :tup: do you have a website and do you make them for the public? my youngest son and I messed with knife making on a very small scale and wished we'd had more time to spend learning the trade - - - about the time we quit, I was ready to try and do some of that ornate case-hardening but those days are gone I'm afraid.

I grew up on the Frying Pan River at Thomasville. I did a lot of jeeping on the Blue, hiking and fishing too.
I don't have a web site, got to old to do it; I've made nearly 2000 knives since 1972, still do it, just came in from grinding all afternoon! I try not to take orders anymore, never know if I'll get to make them. Good luck on your knifemaking.
