Freezer cold/hot smoke conversion
This my up coming project... it gonna be a cold and hot smoker. Gonna use a hot plate/ some type of heating element controlled with a PID for cold smoking. This freezer is only 4'6" tall and 2' wide so I'm gonna raise it up 2' and put a firebox drawer underneath for hot smoking so I don't have to open the smoke chamber and lose heat. Through the back angle of the freezer in the back I'm gonna put a burner so I have another optional heat source. So I will be on this forum a lot looking for ideas for cold smoking. \m/ HOOK'EM \m/

update Freezer cold/hot smoke conversion
Been rough since last post....my 18 year son passed away at the begining of the year he lost his battle with duschane muscular dystrophy his big ol' heart finely just gave up and he went peaceful in his sleep. I got one my freezers ready just gotta vent it. Got trays in and sausage hanging rack. Griddle element gets it to 230 degrees with original rehostat. Redesigned my generator. Made it out of exhaust pipe put a computer fan finger guard inside to hold everything in and I can take bottom plate off that I designed to lock in place to dump the ash. Uses a aquarium pump to force air across to generate smoke and force it out. Will use it to cold smoke sausage, bacon, cheeses and whatever else I can think of and smoke flavor to. I'm not giving up my offset for anything plan on adding a firebox eventually when elevate and mount to a welded platform.

Re: Freezer cold/hot smoke conversion
sorry for your loss, I can only imagine how that must feel...
looks like the smoker is coming along, nicely. Hopefully you will be able to test it out soon and see how the hot and the cold works..
