offset with a cabinet smoker??

As I said in my other post the opening position that attaches the two chambers has a lot to do with how the cooker will perform. Personally I have never dealt with a Klose so I will go by what you say as fact. Your statement that with tuning plates a cooker with tuning plates can operate a vertical at the same temps is why I posted what i did. Not all cookers with this set up can do this.

Agreed, and I didn't believe it to be possible in the beginning as well. But they proved me wrong for sure.

I run tuning plates and the vertical section wont get above 175`. This weekend im going to try a coal bed in my basket in that section to bring up my temps to do a larger cook. Im not using a Klose though.

Do your tuning plates run all the way over into your smoke box, or do they end short of it?

There are 3 and they run all the way with only small gaps between
