Hello from Enumclaw Washington

Postby Copasspupil » Sun Oct 25, 2015 8:09 pm

Hi everyone! I've been lurking around for a while now. I've always loved cooking outside but took the BBQ plunge around 7 years after owning 2 weber grills. I bought a traeger Smith and Wesson 38 Special. Although it provides some smoke flavor and tasty ribs and brisket, I wanted more. I needed to fill my mouth with meat. Like a good hooker on nickel night. So last year I decided to build my first BBQ. I called it "GrumpyD's BBQ". Open grill able to use wood or coal. Similar design to a Santa Maria grill. I also wanted to mix old with new. I contacted a blacksmith for some of the items and found an old IH corn pulley wheel use. I discovered that it was way more enjoyable to 'Q with real wood and I now want to build a real smoker. Looking for a good design to use and nice weather to weld it up. Below is my grill I built.

Full time father part time paramedic and animal flesh lover. Shoot with guns and with my bowtech.

Thanks again for this site and look forward to meeting and learning more from everyone here.

Welcome. That is a fine grill. Perfect for tri-tips! Been to Enumclaw a few times, taking guests on the 410 - 12 loop out of Olympia. Beautiful country, but I am happy to be back in TX. Is the Mint still open? It was a great little pub.

That place has been on and off again. I saw it open a couple of days ago and pretty sure it's under new owners.

Thanks for the compliments. It was the most fun I had for the five days it took me to build it. With the cover I had a firefighter make for me, the wife says it look like a Christmas tree. I can't wait to buy some LED light next month :laughing7:

Yes you can but it's not Texas cheap. I hate to tell you. Got an idea where you're landing?

Good luck. WA is a beautiful state, but over the years it became way too liberal for our tastes. We moved to TX when we retired, back to our southern roots.

If you enjoy fishing, take advantage of the opportunities. I went to Canada and Alaska more than once. I had a ball catching salmon, halibut, ling cod, and rock fish.
