building my pit
hey guys,
long time no post. finally got started on my pit this last weekend. didn't do too much, most of the work was getting it off the ground and onto a stand i build out of cinder blocks and 2x4s. i also attached some wheels to the 2x4 so i can spin the pipe.
i'll be adding more pics over the next few weeks.
feel free to point anything out that you've run into before that was really something you consider a design flaw.
72"x24" pipe. firebox will be 24x24".

Re: building my pit
got a little free time this weekend, and decided to get back to work on the pit before i wake up and its monday and i'm stuck in an office.
my plan was to drop this soon to be sexy beast on a 8x5 trailer, but after rerunning the numbers, 72" pipe + 24" firebox would put me at 96" w/ no room for anything else. i decided to make the doors 25" instead of 27" and cut 6" off the pipe. so now the length is 66".
i was also able to find a 26"x5.5 piece of pipe i plan to use as the exhaust.
just need a few more weekends of good weather and i may be done by the end of May.
here are a few pics after the cut, and me grinding down the side.

Re: building my pit
naw buddy. we don't have a shop, so we're in the back yard. its been raining alot lately, so i haven't done anything in the past few weekends.
i wanted to do something this weekend, but dad is all in love w/ mom and they went away together for mothers day weekend.
humbug.
he and i are building it together, and i'm using all of his tools so i'm at his mercy.
