Cookin' on the Cane

Postby PigsNCows Gone Wild » Tue Jun 09, 2015 8:03 pm

Had a great time at the Cookin' on the Cane event in Natchitoches, La. Landed a 2nd brisket and 9th place rib finishing 5th overall. This is my 5 competition to do and having a great time. 4 of the comps where ribs, brisket and chicken. So far I have gotten a 1st and 2nd place on brisket, and overall have had a 6th and 9th place on ribs, and a 7th place in chicken. I have just got to work on the chicken. Flavor to the bone and juicy, but guess these judges want a grilled chicken instead of a smoked one. Been cooking them at 275 for about 1:30-1:45 minutes. The fun of figuring out what will get in the top 10.

Been meeting a lot of great people on the circuit. So much fun! Can't wait to do the next one.

Take care my friend,
Mike

Well Big Ed now I don't feel so bad. I thought it was just me. Guess I'm gonna have to grill'em instead of smoking them. Maybe that will get me moved up the list.
I did finish 13 out of 71 at the cook off in Terrell this year. Thought I was on the right path then don't even hit the final table this weekend with 31 cooks.
