I have been wanting to build a smaller cooker for Debbie and myself so we can travel further out without bringing Bahama Mama. The cooker will be a 24" x 55" .375 wall cooker.
It will have two doors and no warmer but will have an awning. The firebox is 5/16" plate, the trailer will be made from an old boat trailer I acquired a few months ago. I have been sitting on this project for months but being tugged in a lot of directions will most likely yield another long build so have patience with me please.
12/26/14. Lets build a firebox.
My son works for blasting company and one of their clients donated my end caps and firebox plates for me, another company donated the pipe. I owe them a brisket or two.
I started putting the pieces together.
Placing the pieces corner to corner requires stops to hold the last two pieces.
The pieces were not perfectly flat so I earmarked one for my door and worked on it with the big hammer before welding it up.
Day one complete, more welding tomorrow.
12/27/14
I finished welding out the firebox and cut out the door, yes I used a cut off wheel. I am low on Acetylene and have to make some cuts today on another project. That is a magnet of who knows how many lbs. of pull. I have learned to not let it hit anything flat or it requires exhausting man hours to release it.
A pic of my burn through.
Here is a pic of the trailer. I ordered a new 3500 lb. axle for it which should be ready in a couple of weeks. This project will consist of mostly used or old steel I have at my shop. I am not looking for pretty just a cooker that works.
Behind the trailer you can see the cooker against my fence.
12/28/14
Today I was met with 40° and 100% rain. This is not an ideal temp for a CoonAss to work in. I did get my intakes cut out for the firebox door.
Since my door is going to be on the back I decided on horizontal slides. I needed at least 32 Sq. in. of intake so I went with three 2.25" x 6" tall openings, this gives me 40 Sq. in.
Closed.
Open.
01/04/15
I am almost finished with my door. I need to get some more flat bar and some hinges.
I will start the trailer now that I have my axle.
The door will be pretty close to Bahama Mama's except for the intakes in the door. I am liking this design.
Cold weather and no shop plus short days are going to slow me way down on this build, but I will post updates as I get them done.

Thank You ChingoBlingo. With no shop and the weather not cooperating with me it will be a slow process, especially with other things that take precedence backing up.

I enjoy watching your builds and look forward to the creativity you put in this one. Watching for updates!!!
Oh, and I know you were low on oxy-acetylene gas so you used a grinder to cut the FB door, but I think it looks really looks good...its hard to beat straight lines and close tolerances that make a clean looking finished product.

Thank You 4Mfarms. I felt like I was cheating cutting out the door with the wheels. While precision cuts do look nice and definitely have their place I like to see nice freehand torch cuts, it shows a persons ability with their equipment. I like the whole home made look of a cooker.
Thank you Arnie. I look forward to seeing some pics of your new cooker.

Well aren't you the busy little worker bee I Like what your describing Kevin for the finished trailer and knowing you words won't do it justice as it will be a work of art. Give you a welder and old rusty 36 Packard and a BFH at 8 am and you would be driving it around the block flipping burgers on it by noon for the neighborhood.
Never met a cow I didn't like with a little salt and pepper.

Thank You Dawg. In my younger days I would say that would be a high probability but now I can barely roll out of bed after a day in my shop.
