Bedford Bluesfest Backyard BBQ
Well I'll be sticking my toes in the shallow end of the BBQ competition pool on Friday.
Cooking in the Foreman's Amateur Backyard BBQ competition this Friday. Will be my first BBQ competition...should be fun.
Maybe someday I'll cook in a "Big Boy" comp with my MuleTuff Roti-smoker.

It is indeed a KCBS contest, Gator. They had 90 teams last year, I don't think it has that many this year, maybe more in the 70-75 range. We will be competing again at this year's event. Good time with all the live blues music and folks wandering around. Last year temperature was 106 at turn in time, should be a little cooler this year!

I read somewhere that they haven't assigned spots and would not this year. More of a first come first served method, and depending on if you are doing people's choice or not, will decide where you end up. At least that's how I understand it.

LOL, me too! I read the same thing, that's how I was wondering if Jeff had the speak-easy password or secret handshake...

Man, that's no lie, last year sucked. And we cooked for People's Choice last year as well, so we roasted for three days and nights straight. It was relentless. No breeze, no cloud cover...lol. And it was so hot their electric hookups kept tripping on the RV trailers and we may as well have been in tents. So when I saw that we were gonna get some cooler temps, and maybe even some cloud cover and rain, I was pretty stoked...
Best of luck to everyone this weekend...come by and have a cold one.

Not having numbered spaces is new to me? When I entered on July 1, Wendy told me I could have the same spot as last yr? Which was in the trees and number 99, I have a call into her now wanting a clear explanation to this venue change... We are not doing the peoples choice and don't want in the open field with no shade .... So I'll continue after I speak with her ....no wonder they are loosing teams with this kinda organization .... More time and money goes into the music venue anyway

Re: Bedford Bluesfest Backyard BBQ
After talking to Wendy the space layout will be just like last yr, with numbers ... She's not involved with the spaces layout or numbering , 2 guys that loaded us in and out last yr are in charge of the logistics ... So their will b numbered spaces as of Friday morning At check in .....see y'all Friday afternoon

Re: Bedford Bluesfest Backyard BBQ
Would those of you that are cooking post your spot numbers so we can look you all up and say howdy Sat/Sun depending on when we get out there.
Went a few yrs ago when Buddy Guy and Jonny Lang played. Great event and my good friend placed 45th overall (Smokin Fiorenza's) last year. Think his wife was robbed in the Dessert category as she is the BOMB with all things dessert.
Best luck to you all. Save me a rib!!!
Thanks!
Scott
