Camp Craig Allen Charity BBA Cookoff Oct. 3-4, 2014

Postby Gomeat » Mon Jul 28, 2014 10:26 am

The 8th Annual BBQ Cook Off, benefiting Camp Craig Allen, will see a change of venue and date for 2014. This year’s BBQ Cook Off events will be held at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. This is the largest amateur BBQ Cook Off Benefit in North Texas and the change is a great opportunity for the Frisco community to really get behind a grass roots project, with the intent to build Camp Craig Allen in Frisco. The event is scheduled for October 3-4, 2014, in the Corolla Red lot. Friday night is VIP night with All You Can Eat BBQ, live bands, silent auction and charity casino!!

This is a great event for beginning and experienced teams alike, it’s fun, family-friendly and all proceeds go to supporting Camp Craig Allen. For a $75 entry fee you can compete for bragging rights in any or all of the following categories:

Brisket
Ribs (beef or pork)
Pork Butt
Chicken
Open (anything goes except dog or horse)
Dessert
One entry fee is required for pre-registration of your General BBQ team or Corporate BBQ teams (regardless of the number of categories entered) and one team entry is allowed per each of these above categories. Reserve Grand Champion and Grand Champion will be determined by the four primary BBQ entries, brisket, ribs, pork butt and chicken.

Jack Pot Beans (separate additional $10 cash PER ENTRY).
Jack Pot BBQ Sauce (separate additional $15 cash PER ENTRY)
The “cash pot” of money collected for Beans and for BBQ Sauce will be split 50/50 with Camp Craig Allen and one winner for Beans and one winner for BBQ Sauce. Any type of beans must be cooked on-site, with no pre soaking of beans allowed.

Camp Craig Allen is a non-profit organization with a huge goal of someday to build an entire barrier-free community development project in Frisco, for the physically disabled kids, adults and Veterans. Toyota Stadium is home to the FC Dallas professional soccer team and is excited to participate in the new event type of a BBQ festival for a local charity in Frisco.

Sweet, one close to home. I may not be cooking, but I'll be out there to support everyone that is.

Can't wait for the cook at CCA. I've looked through the pictures of previous events and it looks like a great time.

I have been supporting CCA since 2008 (the old GoMeat Days) in the heat, rain (oh yeah it rained and rained and rained) , the damp frigid Febrary mornings down 45 South from Dallas, corporate fund raisers and catering events every competition Tim entered was tied to supporting CCA and I am very glad and proud that I had the oppurtunity to be involved. I have met a ton of great people through CCA and you will to. You picked a great org to support, enjoy your time with the campers it will change your life.

It's not happening. The lady that runs it is having health issues, so they postponed it.

I talked to Tim at the Bedford cookoff and he said he wasn't sure when they'd pick it back up, since Dawn at CGA is sorta the catalyst for things. I know a very good friend of hers and she was incredibly sick for a while. Prayers for her recovery. It's a vital fundraiser for the org, I'm sure it'll be back on at the earliest point.

Guys, sorry for the late update. I had some trouble with my log in to the forum.

But yes, the CCA cookoff is postponed probably until May or June. As mentioned, Dawn has been very ill and is still on medical leave. All prayers are appreciated and have been effective. We will update you all when we know a new date, we do plan to continue this fun event in the future!! Thank you all for your understanding, thoughts and prayers.
