Brazoria County Outdoors Expo Cookoff 6/13-14

Postby jtilk » Sun Jun 15, 2014 9:04 pm

Was able to attend a local cookoff this weekend for a benefit... all the proceeds went to benefit 3 young girls that had treatment for cancer. I was told next year it will be sanctioned by IBCA, but that has yet to be seen. All in all it totaled 35 teams and went to a great cause... I ended up getting 7th in the Wild Game Category, 6th in brisket, 3rd in chicken and 1st in ribs for RGC ... while AllenD23 and Sons of BBQ took 4th in Wild Game, 1st Chicken, 2nd ribs and 7th Brisket for GC and an offshore tuna trip :D ... Cant complain about a great showing for both of us. Congrats to Allend23 !!

Yeah a shaky beginning turned into an awesome day and the Offshore tuna trip is an awesome grand champion award. Easily the best prize we've won since we started competing.

Thank you guys ... and it was for a great cause. My original intent was to cook Columbus, ended up about 20 mils outside of Columbus and got a phone call that my son was running a fever so I knew the wife wasnt gonna leave him. Ended up turning around to be closer to the family... ended up being just fine with no fever whatsoever, false alarm I guess. haha
