It's an event put on down here by Associated Builders and Contractors... it's not sanctioned, just a few local teams.

I agree this event was well run. I think it will get bigger next year. Bourbon Cowboy Cookers were fortunate enough to get 18th in chicken, 16th in ribs, 13th in pork and 5th in brisket for a 14th overall finish even though we didn't know what the heck we were doing. Met David with Butcher BBQ, (real nice guy), the nice folks from BBQ Guru and Give it to God, a bunch of nice folks from Sam Houston State University, among others. We had fun but were glad to get out early Sunday morning before the grounds got sloppy again. We will cook this one again!

Hope to see y'all next year! I think there will be a bigger turn out next year too. Every team I spoke with said they were coming back for the 2nd Annual event.

The organizers asked me to meet with them, tomorrow morning, to discuss the pros and cons of the cook off. Anyone that attended, could you please send me an email with things you liked and things you would like to see next year. Also, if there was anything you would like to see improved upon too.
