Wish us luck friends as we head to WW-3

Postby RWBTEX » Thu Nov 21, 2013 1:26 pm

Smokin' Lonestar
Good morning friends and family, its a beautiful morning here in south Texas. Those of you who know me in the bbq community down here know I'm famous for saying "I got lucky". Truly I do feel I'm a very luck man in so many ways. Wonderful family, wonderful friends and wonderful sponsors that support my bbq hobby all year long.
Today we're getting ready and loaded to head out to cook this saturday at the 1st of three events that Western Wood, Inc. has put together in New Braunfels Tx. For us its the biggest cook off of the year with the biggest payouts I have personally ever competed for and we hope we get lucky for sure. It is called Western W3 BBQ Cook-Off Series.
They say that "luck is when opportunity meets preparation" and I do hope that we have prepared enough all year long. This year, we have had an amazing run of good luck cooking 21 events and winning NINE Grand Champion awards and three Reserve Grands, praise the Lord God Almighty and AMEN, all the glory belongs to him.
For this weekend we are very very lucky again to have another wonderful sponsor come on board who is not only providing a motor home for us to use but is even providing a chauffer to drive us up and back, lol.
Thank you very much Roel Villanueva State Farm and also Roel is owner of La Mosca Charters and is well known as the best fishing guide in south Texas. Thank you Hector Villanueva for being so gracious in driving us to and from and for being such a good friend.
Thank you Medina Real Estate and Juan M Medina;
Thank you Dr. Hammond Vision Center and Claudia Medina Salas;
Thank you Alfonso Medina;
Thank you Max Fine Furniture and Max Saenz;
Thank you Bill Ellis and Thomas Koeneke Trust and Estate Attorney's;
Thank you Edward Jones Investments and Jim Pax.
May God richly bless you all.
Wont hurt if ya say a prayer for us too ;)

Sorry Rambo had not come back to this thread. 12th place chicken was all I could muster there. Ribs were tough, my mistake, I think I made the best brisket I have ever cooked in my life but not even top 20, thats the way cook offs go. My hat's off for what Western Wood is doing and trying to do for the bbq community, overall they did a great job but truly if ever I felt like it was a crap shoot cook off that was the one. It was very cold drizzly and occasionally rainy, not enough judges so teams were solicited to go judge (that always increases the crap shoot factor) and was judged outside in 30 degree weather so the food was almost frozen instantly before it was judged, lol. The teams that won really did a good job considering the circumstances so huge congrats to them, they deserved it. Over all we had a great year and are very happy and would do another Western if I get a chance between work family ect.
Thanks,Arnie
