Chefs choice turn in time

Postby garzanium » Fri Sep 13, 2013 9:58 am

No im not asking what you turn in :D

I have yet to make it to a comp that has the category- Just signed up for one with it.

Is it usually the last turn in after Brisket in most comps? Just trying to prepare accordingly for the next one.

Most I have done, turn in on Friday night, some do it before beans on Saturday morning. Call the promoter to make sure for your event. Seafood does well. Most of the ones who have it on Friday night, won't require that it be cooked onsite either. Best of luck.

Thanks, I'm excited. .I like the rules of this comp. , Friday night turn in, all cooked on-site, no desert

It's judged like meats, fork and knife right?

Never had one due after brisket... as mentioned it's usually done seperately as to not to interfere with the comps meats.

I love cooking in a big field, but I hate the 1 1/2 to 2 hour turn in gap! I know it's necessary due to judging, but man I hate it.

Lol really? I hate the 30 min turn ins for kcbs. I love the Tx style 2 day comps. Jackpot categeories are Friday, beans and meat Saturday with a nice spread of turn in times. With a 2pm brisket Turn in, my brisket goes on @6am and is done by 11-1130 on the nose. Power cook that meat boy!!!!!

Yeah. My dream comp (only done a couple of times) Pull in 6 AM Saturday. Pits lit by 7 AM. Pack up before awards. Awards at 2:30-3 and run like heck. When the turn ins start dragging, so do I. AND if there is cash in the envelopes, that saves time too.

Turn in time does not matter if your team mate doesn't register the team for chefs choice and when you ask the folks running the comp they say it's too late to register ... we had a darn good dinner though. San marcos..118 teams. ..good times:grin:
