For some reason the link didn't work for me. I looked around using thermo-pen and I can't find that they have an external, or remote, model? I need something to monitor the meat without having to open the smoker door.

Folks seem to like the Maverick 732 for remote monitoring. I have one but haven't used it much, I have used Oregon Scientific for a few years and like them however the Maverick has two probes and the OS just one.

maverick works for me.. as far as the remote type goes....
I also have several others Taylor brand and a couple brand x
I hear nothing but good about thermo works just out side of what I am willing to spend
as far as accuracy I use the boiling water and ice water test remember water boils at different temperatures at different elevations so ya have to use the correction factor. Most of the time on my taylors I wind up replacing the thermo probe due to inaccurate readings.

Good Cue to ya..
