I have a dumb question. Is the white freezer butcher paper that I have been using to put up deer meat, the same as the red paper everyone is talking about to use instead of foil??? Has anyne used the white?
Thanks

if it has sizing on it ( freezer paper) you don't want to cook with it you want the stuff that is like craft paper. There is white and red butcher paper some has sizing some don't.

It's not so much as the color, it's the unwaxed type of paper you want. Most of that type of paper is brown or pinkish/reddish.

Kraft Paper - FDA approved - no coating on it. Color doesn't matter. Some say size doesn't either

Do you cook with railroad ties or treated lumber also? Using paper to cook food in that has has exposure to various oils, resins, and glue is not only bad advise but in the long run potentially harmful.
Look up a company called POSpaper, they have 18-36" FDA approved butcher paper with no wax film. If I remember correctly the part. # is 36rbp. Good luck on your future cooks. The butcher paper works marvelous for brisket.

Thanks for the tip. I've also been concerned with some of the chemicals these papers might have been treated with.
