You can probably pick one up for a decent price at a salvage yard. LOL

OK, BBQ Bowl it is over New Years. Details TBA.
What's the latest craze in tailgate gastronomy? What's tried and true? I haven't been to a tail-gate party since .... ever!

Re: Throwdowns?
My friends are all old school Texas so it's still brisket (and sure nothing wrong with that). BUT, the tailgate thing generally does center on grilling vs smoking I think for the general population, if that helps. I think most people are either not springing enough scratch to buy a PSDOF cooker or join the Egg Cult or have the time or talent to build a trailer cooker or a UDS. I am merely speculating that 90 percent of American tailgators are using a Coleman or a pot belly Weber. Just MHO.
So maybe an Open centered on grilled items native to your home region, as regional tastes vary for tailgating too (like fajitas or other beef in Texas vs wings in the Big Ten vs pig or crawfish in the SEC vs tri tip or clams in the PAC 10-12-? vs crab in the ACC). I don't know what they eat in the Ivy League, mebbe dainty finger sandwiches....in the Big East I think all they do is drink beer and fry baloney.
I offer up this grilling / regional home foods idea knowing full well it is squarely in Egghead's wheelhouse with that Himalayan Ninja salt block of his, a competitive adavantage. Game on!
Gunny you can borrow my tailgate but you gotta drive yerself down here to get it.

I'm sure it will all go fine. Be nice to those nurses, they know more than the docs do! We're more than a month out so maybe you'll be able to grill up some heart-healthy salmon or such for the Throw Down?
Take care, can't wait to hear how it went and how well you're doing
