Hello All. I just joined the site and I'm looking forward to learning a lot from you guys.
I have a Smokemaster smoker that I brought home from my dad's when he passed away. I know that Smokemasters (now Big Hat) is a respected brand, and I'm trying to figure out the value of this smoker. We're about to move, and it's a heavy SOB, so I'm trying to figure out if I should sell it and buy a new smoker, or if I should make the effort to move it. I'd prefer to keep it (and probably will), but can anyone give me an idea what would be a fair asking price? The smoker itself is in excellent condition.....dad probably used it 2-3x tops.
Any advice is appreciated.

Well said WestCoast. I just wish it wasn't so heavy to move.
Thanks for the replies.

whatever you get for it may not make a dent in the price of a new one + shipping.

There is no way I could part with that. Heavy means "last forever." Hire some teenagers to move it who need some gas money.
Where is it located? I don't need it, but would consider it.

Re: Smokemaster smoker
Well, I'm interested to know what you did. You could put a price on that smoker but not a value. I hope you kept it. We stopped making that smaller version smoker so it's tough to compare to what we build now but a new one similar would run $1200. It amazes me that Smokemaster keeps showing up in great condition after all these years. Don Burnett knew what he was doing !!!!

Re: Smokemaster smoker
My first pit was a Smokemaster. I have a slightly larger version and paid about $650 for it in 2005. They are good pits but leak too much heat from the firebox lid and door for my tastes.

Your dads grill is priceless. Ours is 27 years old and still going strong. It has made three moves. It is very heavy but cooks a great steak!!! Got it for 350.00.
