That sure looks like a nice comp , But over 1100 miles one way for me , so I will have to decline this time.

Thanks

Hey Tuck, are you in Austin area? We are moving to Round Rock this summer and I'm looking to organize a cook-off there.

**************************CALLING ALL OUR TEXAS BBQ TEAMS*********************************

TWO Teams from Missouri just signed up to compete here in Arizona. Now, that's FAAAAAAARRRR!! Being born and raised in Texas I'm hoping to get some Teams to represent at my competition. Last year, being a first year event I had 40 pro teams and I'm hoping to reach that again and possibly surpass. If any of you are going to Havasu you should come here first to warm-up before the BIG comp.

Here's the write up from last year to give you a 'picture' of my event.

I promise you a GREAT time! Visit the site for more info. www.bbq4pancan.com

Pretty standard entry for that neck of the woods, Jeff. They don't have multiple cooks across the state every weekend. In fact there are, at times, a month where you might have to travel to another state or you have that time off / to practice.

So, if your only cooking every other month, $300 to enter is not that bad. At least that is the way it was when I was in AZ. They are getting more events together, most all will be close to 10k prize money and will include power and water.

Now, the mileage, that's a killer! My guess is those teams from MO and IA are also cooking the Havasu event.

Yes I believe most of the far travelers are competing in Havasu. I'll be in Texas in 6 months and start planning a cook-off in Round Rock so we'll meet soon :)
