Umm... I hate to add fuel to the fire but Texas is still a Republic on to itself (whatever that means) and is the only State that can legally fly their flag at the same height as the American flag. I remember this from my Cowboy Action Shooting days. Yes, I was a card carrying member of the Single Action Shooting Society.
My origional comment was made to be a joke.

Along with this theme of government protection I though I'd mention a important news article from today's paper. For those of us who think that the government isn't really doing their part and knowing that we work the full first five months of each year to pay the taxes supporting our protective government may suspect in working so hard we really aren't receiving full value from our contributions. Well pilgrims listen to this head line from the Dallas Morning News:
Passengers into U.S. to be checked earlier
Passengers on flights bound
for the U.S. will be checked
against terrorist watch lists
before departure, instead of
after takeoff
In only six years after terrorists commandeered three passenger jets shortly after takeoff and turned them into weapons at the cost of thousands of lives the government has determined that it would be better to check for terrorists before they get on the plane than after they are en-route. Now try to tell me your government isn't on it's toes watching your back. Try to tell me that our homeland security isn't inspired with genius now pilgrim. Of course they go on to say that it won't be implemented for six months, hey things take time give a little slack.
