I'm working on designing a square pit,
Main chamber will be 24"x30"x60", when this is entered ino the calculator it gives a firebox size of 24"x24". What if i decide to add a 24"x24"x42" upright, should I increase the size of the firebox or just leave it be?
When it comes down to the exhaust stack, are the sizes it gives meant to be above the cooking chamber, or will it remain the same if the stacks are lowered inside the chamber to just above the lower grate?

Re: Pit Ratio Calculator Questions
I would think that a firebox of that size would handle what your thinking of doing with the upright.
I wasnt sure about the exhaust length when i built mine, so i added a few more inches for grins!

Re: Pit Ratio Calculator Questions
I am late on this post, but I wanted to ask where I can get the formula or calulator for finding the proper firebox size for a pit. Can someone point me in the right direction? Also, is there a formula to find out how large to opening should be from the firebox to the barrel. Thank you in advance
