my build: phase III

Postby CJATE » Tue Apr 13, 2010 10:32 am

well, got her mostly put together, now I'm on to finishing out the prep area, paint, seasoning, and getting to know each other.

got the fire box mounted, cut 4.5 feet out of the trailer, and found some fenders

amazing how much better it looks,,, all one color. what is not black will be Dark red

now I got to finish the prep area, get my granite put in, set her up for gas and figure out how to support the egg...

she is seasoned and already had a good run.

Nice looking pit. Can I ask where you found the diamond plate aluminum tear drop fenders?

Craigs list, think it was the killeen CL, but he is in gatesville, nice guy and seemed to have lots of them, both tandem and single. they were 1/3 what TSC wanted,,, but they are thin. so no steping on mine.

my whole project has been on the cheap,,, very budget minded, but i hoped the diamond pate would make up for my dirty welds.

off to the granite guy. She pulls really well. I got her up to 55 on the access road, but did not want to push it as I don't yet have lights or chains, and want to grease up all my moving parts, as she has sat for a while.

Starting to take shape!

got all my propane "stuff" ordered, had a lot of help with that: piecing fittings and hoses together,,, thanks to all of you.

Any worries about the granite cracking with the vibrations of the road and all?
