Possiple Fix'er Upp'er ?

Postby OldUsedParts » Sun Mar 12, 2017 12:33 pm

A friend of mine that is always selling Junk Iron and having Yard Sales told me about a BBQ Pit that one of my neighbors had given him and he just finished dragging it out to the front where I could take a look.

I have no idea if this is Junk or a possible Score and it "didn't seem to be rusted through at any place" I do know that he will be selling it and not keeping it. ?maybe $175? :dont:

Didn't want to disturb anyone on this quite Sunday so I just snapped these pics and took some quick measurements.

Pit is 3 foot and smoke stack is about 4 foot
Firebox is basically 18"x18"x18" and has a heavy gauge lid but the stock seems to be around 1/8 or 3/16. It definitely needs some Elbow Grease and TLC but seems sound to me. He was going to clean it up as best he could or wanted to when he got it to his place so maybe I'll have more info later today. :dont:

I asked him if it was a Commercial Pit and if there was a name on it and he replied:
"It's a Huntsville Special from TDC" - - - which means it was made by inmates.

LOL looks like a decent grill and smoke design. I'd be thinking offer up like 125 or 150 if they help load it, then straight off to yer local body shop and see if they'll sandblast it fer you inside and out. Then a couple rattle cans of Rustoleum 2000 degree black (Home Despot sells it), and yer in bidness.

You can also buy a good Tel Tru thermometer online for 60-80 schmolians and be set up first rate. They even got a glow in the dark model (Scout's honor) which is what I put into my Rosebud. Works like a champ.

When the came by the house with the trailer loaded yesterday, they were on there way to start cleaning it up. I did mention a hand pot blaster and the other feller said they had one. Knowing my friend, it is cleaned by now - - - he does not lack a good supply of elbow grease and doesn't mind using it. Hopefully I'll get some pics of it cleaned up and I'll post'em up for all to see. :salut:

This looks like a pit from All Seasons Feeders. These are decent, to be honest.

I know a couple of guys, here in Huntsville, that have these pits. They're pretty well made and they've had theirs for well over ten years.

I'm pretty sure he told me yesterday that he'd sold it but I'll give him a shout and make sure.

We are making a trip to Waco in about 2 weeks and If it is still available when we head out, I may be driving from Texas to Arkansas with a bbq pit on the roof of my Mazda 6..

OUP - you'd better lock that up. $150 is a great deal for that pit. It would be mine if I were closer
20" x 40" Party Gator Pit
48" Custom Firepit

I can't always please everybody. I'm not bacon.
