I always use a wire brush to clean my grill. A few weeks ago I grilled up some burgers and about half way through eating one I felt something stab me in the cheek. One of the metal wires fell off my brush and had somehow found its way into my burger. I did some research on different scrapers and brushes and found one that works really well but doesn't have anything that can fall off into the food. I found one on Amazon called the grill spike that looked like it would work. They were sold out on Amazon so I went to their website (www.grillspike.com) and bought one. I got it two days later and it's awesome. I use the Weber E-310 at home and the Weber one touch for camping and it worked great on both. I also found out after I bought it that it has a lifetime guarantee so I'll never have to buy a grill scraper again. I've never seen anything like it before and it works great so I thought I would share it with you guys. I never realized that wire brushes could be so dangerous and I can't even imagine what would have happened if I actually swallowed that wire.

Really - I would always opt for a nail in my food vs a bristle.

to clean the grill... first let it warm up to the point the grease is starting to burn, next tear off a piece of foil and compress it into a ball, get ahold of it with your tongs and scrub the grill clean. No brush, no bristles no trips to the ER

I have an automatic grill brush cleaner.
I have a raccoon that comes 'round and takes my long handled wire brush drags it somewhere then licks the bristles clean.
Worst part for me is finding the brush but it seems I always do then hit it with degreaser spray and hose it off for the next time.

I wonder about his tongue though......

Nice testimonial, I will keep my 2.99 wire brush as I always wipe it down afterwards.

Start yer fire hot enough and burn it off. No brush issues ever.

He may want to avoid spicy, salty, and acidic foods for a while!!

Yeah, happens often. Folks advertising either their own product or something else. Kinda get a red flag when somebody's first and/or only post is something like this.
Even the story sounds wonky. I do remember hearing some stuff about it on the news some time back, I blew it off then as well. In all my years of cooking, I have never bitten into a brush bristle, nor have I ever had any physical ailments resulting from swallowing a brush bristle. Heck, I'm probably suffering more troubles from all the tylenol and ibuprofen I take, than anything related to consumption of grill brush bristles.
