Thermowand digital thermometer

Thermowand digital thermometer

a couple of weeks ago a new fella on our bbq message board asked about digital thermometers. we all told him how great the Thermapen is, but he had a problem with the $96 price tag.
he started digging around and came across the Thermowand for $28.
and it's only 1"sec. slower than the Thermapen.
i like it for it's smaller "pocket" size

Thermoworks now has a product called the ThermoPop. I actually like these as much as the Thermapen (though I have two Thermapens as well), and the price is $29 normally, and they're always running a sale on them @ $24, which is a great deal. After having a Thermoworks product, I can't see myself having anything else. With the introduction of the ThermoPop that brings a product offering in this price range where it's affordable, and incredibly versatile. Just mentioning in case people are looking for a cost-effective temp device.

I don't know if I'd test it but that's certainly a bold claim!

Holy moly!!!! thats a sweet looking alternative to the thermo pen. I'd be willing to give it a whirl for $28 bucks.

If the thermowand is for real, I foresee a price drop on the thermo pen soon.

HEADS UP!
the new Thermowand worked the first time, (on the meatloaf cook) but when i turned it on this morning the read-out was frozen at -58°.
I went back and read all the reviews on Amazon and there were at least 10 where the unit failed.
i have sent 3 emails to Lavatool's customer service and they have not responded.
sorry i presented this to the community, not worth the money

Thanks for posting the follow up. Can't tell you how many times I thought I found the greatest thing ever only for it to be a dud down the road. Lucky for me I've got my wife to remind me of all those purchases … :)

I have been using the older style thermapen for all my cooks, infared grill and fryer, offset and pellet smokers with near perfect results. I bought my wife a thermopop to use for all other cooking and it is just as accurate. Slightly slower read than the pen, but very accurate and useable. I keep thinking I am going to get the new thermapen, but the old one never fails me so no need to change. You get what you pay for and the pros do use what works best.

+1 on the thermos works; had it for about a year now, my philosophy is simple I can part with $24 and have it go bad or break easier than I can $99 especially when is comes to a couple seconds....(the wife uses it more than I do) but Its a great thermometer.
